In the fast changing and competitive scenario of present times, finding the best possible people who can fit within the culture of an organization and contribute meaningfully is a challenge and an opportunity. Once one finds the best brains for an organization, retention is the next great challenge for managers. In certain situations, the departure of an employee with specialized skills and knowledge due to resignation, retirement or removal may even bring systems to a halt and create chaos. Hence, employee retention is the most critical issue facing corporate leaders today, especially given the shortage of skilled labour and high rates of employee turnover. Many companies are trying to grapple with the menace of employee turnover as it affects their business in umpteen ways. Today, successful organizations realize that employee retention and talent management are an integral part of their sustenance in the marketplace.
