PGDCM at IIM C not to have any additional test

Starting this year, the selection procedure to the Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Aided Management (PGDCM) programme offered at IIM-C (Kolkata) will be simplified; it will not have the additional Aptitude test in Mathematics which used to be conducted till last year. The earlier practice of admissions required the applicant to appear for an Aptitude test in graduate level Mathematics along with the CAT; the student would then be shortlisted for the GD/PI sessions based on his performance in both the tests.

As per the CAT bulletin for 2008, IIM-C would shortlist candidates for the PGDCM interview based on CAT 2008 scores, academic excellence and relevant work experience. When contacted and asked if this meant that the CAT/quantitative score used as cut-off for admission to the course would be higher than in previous years, the authorities refused to make any predetermined policy statement on that. At the group discussion and the Interview, the candidate’s interest and competence in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) would be gauged. IIM-C would publish separate lists and hold separate GD/PI sessions for the PGDM & the PGDCM programmes.

Exclusions from Initial CAT List Raise Questions

The CAT 2008 Notification for MBA aspirants has been released and test bulletins and application forms are available from designated branches of Axis Bank till August 8, 2008.
