A statement that was always true, but which has gained increased relevance in view of the talent crunch that Indian and international firms face today in the sphere of professional management. Education received at one of the better B-Schools is widely recognized as a primary differentiator when it comes to choosing employees not only likely to be productive at the earliest but also strong contenders for eventually assuming roles in top management. Not surprisingly, given the mismatch between demand and supply of such professionals in a booming phase of the economy, placement prospects of management graduates have skyrocketed and so have salaries – a fact that is amply borne out by placement statistics across institutes this year. Placements remain one of the strongest motivators (if not the strongest) for those opting for a business degree and it is important for all aspirants to check the trends when they apply to a B-school.
