SIMS and Standard Chartered offers joint PG Diploma in “Retail Banking & Sales”

The Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies (SIMS) and Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) in a joint venture will offer a Post Graduate Diploma in Retail Banking & Sales starting June 1st 2009. Two batches are already running successfully since August 2008.

The programme is of 12 months’ duration. Participants will get an opportunity to learn while they earn. They will be given a consolidated stipend of Rs 10,000 per month starting from the fifth month of the course which will be after completion of the classroom training. Participants who do complete the course successfully are assured a job as ‘Consumer Banking – Graduate Trainee’ an 8B officer (Entry Level Managerial Band) at SCB.

The programme focuses on the banking and finance domain along with special emphasis on connecting with the customer. SCB and SIMS will have a joint selection procedure. Graduates who have appeared for SNAP 2008 or have a minimum of one year’s work experience can apply for this programme. Short listed students will undergo a GD/PI session on March 14th and 15th. The programme aims to have a batch of 60 students this year, however further selection procedures can add or subtract the intake by 10%.The process is entirely based on merit.

The fee structure for the 12 month course is Rs 1,00,000/- which can be paid in installments (details of which are displayed on the website www.sims.edu)

Application forms have been made available from Feb 9th 2009. In order to avail of the same, a Demand Draft of Rs. 1,000/- to be drawn in favour of ‘Director, SIMS ‘ payable at Pune, needs to be sent along with the Name, E-mail ID, SNAP ID, Contact No. and postal mail address to “MDP Cell, Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies (SIMS) Range Hills Road, Kirkee Cantt., Pune – 411 020.”

The last date for submission of duly filled forms is March 3, 2009.
