MBA in Healthcare Management from CREMA

The healthcare industry has shown tremendous growth in the past few years and today, healthcare is no longer limited to just going to a hospital. India will need over a million (10 lakh) “Healthcare Management Professionals” by 2012, as compared to the existing 2 lakh. Obviously, therefore, there is tremendous potential for career upgradation through new professional courses related to healthcare and hospital administration. Value-wise, the Indian healthcare industry will touch Rs. 3,52,500 crore by 2014 from Rs. 1,64, 500 crore today, according to Technopak Advisors in their report – ‘India Healthcare Trends 2008’. Such market scenarios open up a plethora of job opportunities for Healthcare Professionals. In the healthcare industry, right now, a fresh MBA graduate from a reputed institute, has the potential to earn a salary of Rs. 50,000 per month, which can go up to Rs. 2 lakhs per month after he has gained an experience of few years in the industry.
In view of the above, the Clinical Research Education & Management Academy (CREMA), a premier institute offering quality education in Clinical Research, has introduced the course in MBA – Healthcare Management.
CREMA has tied up with Assam’s University of Dibrugarh, a state university, for a two year full time MBA program in Healthcare. The university is approved by UGC and accredited by NAAC. The course has been designed to meet the growing needs of hospitals and healthcare establishments, both private and governmental, for adequately trained professionals. The syllabus will include key functional areas like Materials and Inventory Management, Human Resource Management, Marketing of Services, Planning and Budgeting, Health Planning and Policy, Financial Management, Hospital Support Services, Customer Relationship Management, Supply Chain Management, Quality Management, Research Design and Scientific Writing, e-Healthcare, Health Information Systems (HIS). After the completion of MBA, a fresher could start his career as a healthcare management executive in leading hospitals and can go up to the levels of Medical Superintendent, Director-Hospital or a CEO of a hospital.
Dr. S.M. Sapatnekar, Dean CREMA, will head the MBA program. He is a former professor and Head of Department of community medicine at the Grant Medical College, Mumbai and has also been a Vice-Chancellor's nominee to the Academic Council of the University of Mumbai.
