Enroll in MBA 2011 with scholarships; admissions open till beginning of August 2009
July 23, 2009
Bangalore-based Leviosa Business School, which invites applications for admissions to its BBM and PGDBM/MBA courses, seems to be a school with a difference. It clearly underplays the obvious offerings of infrastructure and 100% placements – which every other new school does – and emphasizes the difference that participants will derive from the quality education imparted by their “practitioner scholars” – business managers who have over two decades of experience in the most renowned organizations in industry and have recruited from the top B-schools on one hand, and on the other, have been directly associated with academia through teaching stints at top schools as visiting faculty. Thus students at the school get an opportunity to learn from business managers who can expose them to the best of academic instruction and industry insights. This will certainly help them emerge as true leaders in industry and government sectors and even as entrepreneurs.
The School has received a Letter of Intent from the AICTE – valid for two years – which essentially promises accreditation for its two-year MBA once it has moved into its own campus from rented premises.
The two-year fulltime MBA programme at the Institute commences in August 2009. It is open to graduates in any discipline with above average academic track record. The programme of 160 credits – 97 in core courses and 63 in electives – will be structured into two semesters per academic year. The areas of specialization offered shall be (subject to sufficient number of student choices) Finance, Information Systems, Marketing, Organization Behaviour and HR, Production and Operations Management and Strategy. PGDBM/MBA students will receive a 15 day exposure to students, academia, industry and government in Europe during the third/fourth semester at a nominal extra cost, in addition to the regular summer internship.
Leviosa will charge Rs.250,000 as fees for the PGDBM/MBA programme but scholarships are available for needy, meritorious students and small groups from the same school, college, or country. Moreover, each year a scholarship of Rs.100,000 will be made available to deserving SC/ST applicants. Education loans will also be available from HDFC Bank. The fee includes a laptop and books, but does not include the cost of accommodation and food in the hostel, or travel.
Interested applicants can download the application form from the school’s website http://www.leviosa.in and send it to them by email at admission@leviosa.in. For consideration, an application fee of Rs 50,000 must be sent along with the Application Form. This amount will be refunded in case admission is refused for whatever reason. Chosen applicants will be met for an interview by the Institute’s selection panel in Bangalore or in a location suiting the applicant. There will be no written test or requirement of scores of any other test.
Leviosa also offers a 3-year Bachelors in Business Management (Rs.200000), applications for which are also open. More information is available on the website.
