Graduation ceremony for defence officers at XLRI Jamshedpur

XLRI Jamshedpur will be holding the Fifth Graduation Ceremony of its Executive Management Programme for Defence Officers on July 18, 2009.

Smt. Saroj Vinayak, Director General, Ordnance Factories and Chairman of Ordnance Factory Board, Kolkata will be the Chief Guest.  Smt. Vinayak has been with the Ordnance Factory since 1973 and has held varied and responsible positions.

This would be the fifth batch of defence officers with 49 of them  who will be graduating in this batch. XLRI had launched the Certificate Programme in Business Management for Defence Personnel on January 14, 2007.  The programme  was launched at the request of the Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India, who perceived the need for “resettlement” of the officers.

The Executive Management Programme has been designed, keeping in mind the needs of the business world with the aspirations of the service officers. This Programme has been structured with a focus on the theoretical formulation and designed to augment and adapt the Officers’ varied experience to disciplines and functional areas relevant to management of business.

The programme which is of six-months duration, equips the participants with basic concepts and skills of all functional areas of management along with an area of concentration, thereby enabling them to find a second-career in the corporate world.   The corporate sector has expressed a keen interest in this fine batch comprising of a good blend of officers who are all set to face the challenges of tomorrow.
