IIMs meet HRD today to decide about CAT 2009

The Seven directors of the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) will be meeting the Union Ministry of human resources and development at Delhi today to decide the fate of CAT 2009. This was the first time that CAT had adopted the computer based format but suffered several technical and other issues during its administration. Around 2.5 lakh students have their hopes pined on the CAT. Several of the candidates who were unable to give the test are waiting for a fresh rescheduled date from Prometric the US based company which has administered the computer based test over the 11 day window period across several centres.
As per unconfirmed media reports the IIMs are mulling over a paper based re test of the CAT. Some of the institute directors are divided over the decision to scrap the computer based test and conduct a fresh test. Many aspirants are in the hope for a concrete decision to be announced later today.
