IIM K present: HORIZONS‘09

The Indian Institute of Management , Kozhikode (IIM K) is organizing its three day annual managemnet conclave from October 9-11, 2009. The theme for the conclave is “Refuelling Growth - Gearing up for a new Economic Landscape”.

The event serves as a platform for prolific discussion and debate between industry leaders, academicians, policymakers and management students. The objective of the event is creation and cultivation of knowledge that is beneficial for both the nation and society.

This past year has seen numerous changes in the global economic landscape. The fallout of the economic crisis will be an economic transformation where power centers will be rearranged. This economic renaissance will bring both challenges and opportunities for the nation. The level to which we accept and excel in these challenges will determine our position in the new world order. The time is ripe for refuelling the growth engine with stronger monetary and fiscal measures, disciplined management practices and sustained innovation. Horizons 2009 attempts to build a holistic view for participants to precipitate understanding and spark critical thinking.

Horizons is designed to nurture the knowledge resource of its participants through activities and events offering key insights into industry best practices. The three days will witness a number of talks, panel discussions, debates and a white paper competition. The event will start off with a critical analysis of the current global scenario from multiple perspectives and set a platform of learning and a framework to be carried forward and built upon. Horizons 2009, day 2, attempts to juxtapose diverse practical viewpoints to build an action plan for sustained growth and offer workable solutions to recent economic issues. Horizons 2009, day 3, attempts to explore the way ahead for the industry and economy and envisage the new economic order. This constitutes activities on the Retrospection, Action, and Ascension Day respectively.
