IIM Kozhikode jointly organizes the IPIX Calicut Mini Marathon

The Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode in association with Calicut Management Association & P T Usha School of Athletics will organize the first mini marathon in the city of Calicut on 31st January. The event is centred on the theme - “Be the Change”. The marathon, which is expected to see thousands running shoulder to shoulder, is a clarion call to the young minds of the city to wake up and act. It aims to bring forth awareness about the various issues plaguing the society and urge people to lead by example. This event is an attempt to inspire courage to start along the road of development, for a better India, a better tomorrow and for a better world.
The mini marathon will cover a stretch of 10 kilometers and will be conducted separately for men and women. The event will also see a celebrity run which covers a stretch of around 3 kilometers with participation from the guests of honour, celebrities, and students from all invited colleges. The registration process will begin from Jan 10th in the city and also in all the colleges and schools. This first edition of Calicut marathon will have no fixed registration fee for the participants. The marathon, which aims at creating change in society, will follow a process of “Registration through Donation” wherein a participant wishing to register needs to drop a donation amount which will be collected and given to the NGO Pain and Palliative care on the day of the Marathon. Pain and Palliative care provides exceptional service to terminally ill patients. This offers the participants an opportunity to contribute to social welfare.
The marathon is jointly organized by the Social Service Group of IIM Kozhikode. The Social Service group has been involved in a host of social development activities in and around Kozhikode and provides support to the weaker sections of the society. This inaugural edition of Mini Marathon has been conceptualized and organized at the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode.
The event partners include Calicut Management Association which is one of the most vibrant local management associations (LMAs) affiliated to the All India Management Association (AIMA), New Delhi. Based in Calicut, CMA is a body of management experts, executives, entrepreneurs, businessmen and academicians interested in promoting the course of professional management. The P T Usha School of Athletics is a Rs 20 Crore project chalked out by P.T Usha and her friends in Koyilandy to train the young blood in Indian Athletics. Students at this institution have achieved success in several national and state athletic championships.
This inaugural edition is sponsored by IPIX solutions Private Limited, a subsidiary of the Morison Menon business group. It has agreed to be the official title sponsor of this mega event. Morison Menon group has been a leader in contributing to the society through multiple channels including rehabilitation through the Tsunami Relief Fund, supporting young talent through its contribution to P T Usha School of Athletics and also to other funds like the Chartered Accountants Funds.
