Western Classical Music Concert at IIM K

October 30, 2009 saw the students and faculty members of IIM Kozhikode being treated to a Western Classical Music performance at the campus organized by the IIMK Chapter of the SpicMacay. Norwegian artists – Caroline Dahl (Flute), Ida Bryhn (Viola), Anders Nilsson (Violin) and Fredrik Sjolin (Cello) – regaled the audiences with their rendition of Musical geniuses like Bach, Beethoven, Mozart and Vivaldi. The theme of the evening was “European Music through the Ages” where the artists illustrated the morphing of Western Classical music by the events of each century.
About the Performers:
Caroline Dahl has done concerts both as soloist and as chamber musician in different ensembles in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and England apart from receiving multiple scholarships for music.
Fredrik Sjolin was a Norwegian National Award winner at the age of 14 and International Award Winner at 16, leading to a rich career as a soloist in Hungary.
Anders Nilsson has made a mark as soloist, chamber musician, instructor as well as an ensemble leader. He has played with most Norwegian orchestras including Bergen Philharmonic.
Ida Bryhn started playing at the age of 6 and has played with The Oslo Philharmonic. She is also a scholar from Fulbright as well as the Norway American Foundation. |
