International conference on entrepreneurship at ISB

The Indian School of Business (ISB) will play host to its first international conference on entrepreneurship policies on the 5th and 6th of June, 2009. The theme of the Conference is 'Catalysts of Entrepreneurship - Policies for Growth'. The Conference is organized by the Wadhwani Centre for Entrepreneurship Development at the Indian School of Business, in partnership with the RAND Corporation, US and Legatum Institute. The conference aims to address questions pertaining to areas such as policies and practices both at the state and central governments levels that encourage or discourage entrepreneurs in India, status of recent reforms, the present regulatory regimes etc.
The Conference programme is designed to focus on entrepreneurial development in two sectors: Education and Infrastructure. The conference has been spread out across four sessions, Session 1 is a focus on ISB-RAND Research findings, Session 2 is on entrepreneurship in the Indian educational sector, Session 3 is on entrepreneurship in effective infrastructure development, the last and the fourth session is titled “The journey to action”.
Some of the key speakers who would be present at the conference are Mr. Nagarajan Vittal (Ex-Central Vigilance Commissioner, Ex-Chairman of the Public Enterprises Selection Board, Ex-Secretary of Department of Telecommunication, Secretary of Department of Electronics, Ex-Development Commissioner of Kandla Free Trade Zone); Mr. Bob Sam (Principal Secretary, Department of Industries and Commerce, Andhra Pradesh, India); Evan Feigenbaum(Senior Fellow, Council on Foreign Relations, U.S.); Mr. Manish Sabharwal(Chairman and Co-founder, Teamlease) and other renowned policy makers, academicians and entrepreneurs as well.
The conference thus aims to bring policy makers, industry, academia and entrepreneurs together to debate and evolve an effective, pragmatic and comprehensive set of policy recommendations to promote entrepreneurship in India. |
